Technical Manual BCIS-20: Sulfuric Acid For Use in Preparing Electrolyte

Battery Technical Manual Section BCIS-20: BCI Recommended Procedures for Concentrated Sulfuric Acid for Use in Preparing Lead-Acid Electrolyte

Revised 04/14

BCIS-20 provides general limitations of impurities in concentrated sulfuric acid for use in preparing lead-acid battery electrolyte. This specification is applicable to most types of lead acid batteries. It is incumbent upon the user to determine the suitability of this specification to their specific batteries. Only concentrated sulfuric acid (>90%) is addressed. Impurities will vary in dilutions to attain various electrolyte concentrations.
