Battery Technical Manual Section-03A: BCI Recommended Test Methods for VRLA-AGM Battery Separators

Revised 1/2021

BCIS-03A is a collection of test procedures that covers the determination of the compression and recovery characteristics of recombinant battery separator material (RBSM) when exposed to different pressures and different saturation levels. These procedures define methods of testing physical and chemical characteristics such as compressibility, surface area, thickness, acid weight loss, and organic impurities as well as other characteristics. This standard is applicable to VRLA-AGM battery separators used in the manufacturing of AGM batteries.
