The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s 5th Annual Sustainability and Circular Economy Summit provided an ideal forum for sustainability experts and lead battery experts to share insightful data on the lead battery industry’s successful model of sustainable, circular manufacturing.

Essential Energy Everyday invited experts to participate in a panel discussion titled, “Data for Good.” The conversation included how to leverage lead batteries, with a 99.3% recycling rate, as a model for other industries and battery chemistries, such as lithium-ion batteries, with a 5% recycling rate.  A key panelist was Dr. Carole Mars, the director of technical development and innovation for The Sustainability Consortium (TSC). Its mission is to help make consumer products worldwide more sustainable.

The Summit attracted officials from the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy, and a wide range of sustainability leaders from Walgreens Boots Alliance, Kohler, Ocean Conservancy, Subaru, UPS, Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch and Essential Energy Everyday.
