Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Lead Battery Solar Microgrids

The Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium (ALABC) has joined other members of the Missouri S&T Microgrid Industrial Consortium to provide resources for the construction of an advanced lead battery microgrid at the Missouri S&T EcoVillage.

Two on-campus high-tech homes will act as ”living laboratories” for a three-year study on renewable energy sources – and storage – for communities of the future.

Lead batteries will be the primary stored power source for these systems. Based upon our insights, we believe lead AGM – or absorbed glass mat batteries – will be the battery of choice for the next 20-plus years.
