East Penn Participates in OSHA’s 2024 Safe & Sound Week with Employee Trivia Contest

East Penn battery recycling

East Penn safely recycles over 30,000 batteries a day. The lead, plastic, and acid are reclaimed for use in brand new batteries.

As part of its participation in Safe & Sound Week, BCI member East Penn sent out trivia questions every day to help reinforce the company’s important Health and Safety initiatives and key educational points.

Safe & Sound week, designed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, was  on Aug. 12-18.

East Penn employees were invited to participate in the trivia contest through the company’s app called Gateway. A dedicated section in the app for Health & Safety featured a series of videos, articles, and other resources to further support employees working safely.

For the contest, employees receive a notification each day and are invited to answer a series of Health and Safety related questions. Twelve employees who answered all the questions correctly were selected for awards at the end of the contest.

East Penn’s Management also participated in Safe and Sound week by highlighting health and safety projects currently in process or completed on the East Penn campus. These projects, featuring employee suggestions, departmental successes and engineering controls, highlighted efforts taken to reduce ergonomic, hand and finger injuries and lead exposure.

BCI is grateful for East Penn’s employees and their dedication to working safely and taking care of their health. BCI also applauds the dedicated Health & Safety staff at East Penn  and across our membership for their continued dedication, creativity, and effective outreach during important events like Safe & Sound Week and across the year.
