Support a new century of industry leadership at the 2025 BCI Convention

In a pre-convention written address, Battery Council International President & Executive Director Roger Miksad invites industry professionals to the 2025 BCI Convention + Power Mart Expo in San Antonio, Texas on May 4-7, highlighting its critical timing amid rapid industry transformation. Already outpacing last year’s centennial celebration in registrations, Miksad urges the BCI community to secure their spots quickly for what promises to be an unmissable event.

The battery industry is undergoing a dramatic evolution in 2025, from global policy shifts to volatility in materials markets to continued innovation in energy storage technologies.

That’s why it’s critical for battery manufacturers, recyclers, suppliers and distributors across the BCI community to renew our commitment to the spirit of collaboration and friendly competition that has defined our industry for the last century.

And there’s no better place to do that than at the BCI Convention + Power Mart Expo on May 4-7 in San Antonio, Texas.

This year, BCI’s keynote speaker is global geopolitical expert Peter Zeihan, who will provide an industry-focused analysis of global trends in trade, economics, and politics.  Now, more than ever, it is critical for business leaders and decision makers to understand how these global trends will impact the industry over the coming decades. Peter brings both unique insights as well as good humor to a rapidly evolving policy landscape, and will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the 2025 BCI Convention.

We will also feature mainstays of the industry’s must-attend annual conference, including BCI member forecasts for both automotive and industrial markets as well as the five-year failure mode study.  These critical reports, available only through BCI thanks to our trusted partnerships with key industry stakeholders, provide commercial insights and hard data that you simply will not find anywhere else in the world.

The BCI Convention also continues to build on its commitment to support leading technical experts and share their discoveries, ongoing research, and actionable insights for the battery industry. That includes the presentation of the BCI Innovation Award on Monday before dozens of panels held as part of BCI’s Innovation and Technology Summit. Thanks to the continued growth and success of this annual Summit, BCI is enabling tomorrow’s technology leaders and ensuring businesses are prepared for the future of energy storage markets.  The 2025 Innovation and Technology Summit. will feature presentations on lead, flow, sodium, and other battery technologies and will cover the full range of battery applications.

Another area of continued growth and innovation at our annual event is the vibrant BCI Battery Poster Research Showcase. This year, we have received a record number of submissions that will feature some of the brightest minds in electrochemistry from around the country, and will feature a number of students from local engineering programs in Texas. Engaging with the next generation of innovators is a critical part of ensuring the continued success of our industry for years to come, and BCI is incredibly proud of how this program continues to grow each year.

As you can see, BCI hosts the battery industry’s longest-running and most respected battery conference because of the rich expertise on display at our event. But beyond these critical industry updates and explorations of cutting-edge research, Battery Council International also celebrates the rich traditions and “people power” of our industry. That includes our Quarter Century Club Breakfast that honors employees with more than 25 years of service and our Distinguished Service Award that recognizes leaders who have provided sustained, long-term, and meaningful contribution to the advancement of both the association and the battery industry.

Last year, Battery Council International celebrated 100 years of leadership as the preeminent organization representing the global battery industry. Those of you who joined us for our Centennial Celebration as part of the BCI Convention in Florida will agree that we marked the occasion in style.

But that event was so much more than a birthday party, and this year’s BCI Convention is certain to build on the important and tangible work of the industry over the last year. As proof of this continued commitment to our current and future priorities, I’m thrilled to report that BCI already had +500 paid delegates as of March 1 – a record pace that rivals last year’s once-in-a-century event.

Space is limited, however, so make sure you and your company are signed up to join us for this critical battery industry event. We are stronger together, and there’s no better place to build important connections and gain critical intelligence on industry trends than at BCI.

Join us for the 2025 BCI Convention + Power Mart Expo in San Antonio, and help us build a brighter future for the industry together!
