The ambitious "Green Deal" puts the European Union's (EU) policies on climate, mobility and energy transition in a long-term perspective. EUROBAT insists on the need for a consistent EU legislative framework, enabling all battery technologies to contribute to sustainable solutions. At the same time, our industry must "walk the talk" on global material stewardship and be a champion for responsible manufacturing and recycling. 

Speaker: Dr. Marc Zoellner, CEO, HOPPECKE Batteries 

Dr. Marc Zoellner is CEO and Managing Shareholder of HOPPECKE Batteries. HOPPECKE Batteries is the largest producer of industry battery systems in European ownership and specializes ininnovative storage solutions. HOPPECKE is also a long-standing member of EUROBAT, of which Dr. Zoellner was appointed President in June 2019. From 1994 to 1998, Dr. Zoellner worked in different business units of Linde AG, a German manufacturer of forklift trucks, after which he returned to the family business HOPPECKE as General Manager for Motive Power Batteries. During his keynote presentation, Dr. Zoellner will share insights into opportunities to advance the lead battery industry globally.

Small Business, Power in Numbers

Speaker: Thomas M. Sullivan, VP, Small Business Policy, U.S. Chamber of Commerce 

Thomas M. Sullivan is Vice President of Small Business Policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Working with chambers of commerce and the U.S. Chamber’s nationwide network, Sullivan harnesses the views of small businesses and translates that grassroots power into federal policies that bolster free enterprise and reward entrepreneurship. He runs the U.S. Chamber’s Small Business Council, engaging those members on a regular basis to increase small business input and involvement in Chamber activities. During his keynote presentation, Sullivan will share how small businesses can best utilize their associations to support their needs, leverage a collective network and more. Then, Sullivan will be joined by two BCI member company representatives for a Q&A session on issues facing small lead battery manufacturers, suppliers and marketers, and ways for these small businesses to maximize their clout.
